ISO 37001:2025 Anti-Bribery Management
ISO 37001 benefits: what the certificate does for your business
An ISO 37001 certificate answers the bribery questions in supplier questionnaires, tenders and customer audits with one verifiable document. Inside the company, it makes you write down who approves what, who checks which payments and where concerns go. This page shows where the benefits are real and where they depend on your customers.
01: Overview
What an ISO 37001 certificate does for your business
ISO 37001 sets the requirements for an anti-bribery management system. The benefits come from two directions: the document you show to others, and the structure you build to earn it.
The table lists the main effects and where each one becomes visible.
| Benefit | Who notices it | Where it shows up |
|---|---|---|
| Proof of anti-bribery precautions | Purchasing department of a customer | Supplier questionnaire, code of conduct confirmation |
| Evidence for bids | Contracting authority, tender team | Attachment to the tender documents |
| Clear responsibilities | Management and finance | Approval rules, compliance function, reporting channel |
| Lower bribery exposure | Owners and board | Risk assessment, due diligence on business partners |
| A document you can pass on | Sales and prospects | Quote, website, email signature, verification page |
02: Customers
Customer trust starts with the supplier questionnaire
Larger customers send the same questions to every supplier. Do you have an anti-bribery policy? Who is responsible for it? How do you check agents and distributors? Without a certificate, someone in your company answers these by hand, again for every customer.
With a certificate, the answer is a document with a number. The customer can check it without calling you.
- Supplier questionnaire
- The certificate covers the anti-bribery section in one reference instead of a new set of written answers each time.
- Code of conduct
- Groups often ask suppliers to confirm their code. The certificate shows that you operate measures behind that confirmation.
- Customer audit
- The auditor finds a policy, a risk assessment and a reporting channel already in place, so the conversation moves on to specifics.
03: Tenders
Does ISO 37001 help in tenders?
It depends on the tender. Some call for evidence of compliance measures, and a certificate is a clean attachment for that. It does not replace price, references or technical fit, but it removes one open question from your bid.
The effect is strongest where bribery risk is part of the business: companies with public sector customers, construction and infrastructure, engineering, healthcare and medical technology, commodity trading and logistics, and exporters selling into markets with higher risk. Suppliers to groups with a code of conduct meet the same questions from the other side.
04: Inside
Fewer grey areas inside the company
The requirements of ISO 37001 are work. Each one also closes a question that otherwise comes back every few months.
Bribery risk assessment
You know which sales channels, countries and counterparties carry risk, and you review the picture regularly.
Anti-bribery policy
Staff have a written rule on gifts, hospitality and facilitation payments instead of an unwritten custom.
Independent compliance function
One person has direct access to leadership and the authority to say no to a deal.
Due diligence
Agents, partners and new hires are checked before the contract, not after the first problem.
Financial and non-financial controls
Payments, approvals and procurement follow rules that someone can verify.
Protected reporting channel
Employees can raise a concern without fearing retaliation, and management hears about it early.
None of this makes bribery impossible. It makes it harder to start, easier to spot and easier to explain afterwards, because the company can show the precautions it took.
05: Marketing
Using the certificate and its verification link
Every Zertify certificate is a PDF with a certificate number and a QR code. Anyone who scans the code lands on a public verification page for that number. Your customer does not need to trust a screenshot.
Put the PDF into tender folders and quote attachments. Link the verification page from your website and add it to the email signature of the people who talk to purchasing departments. Describe the certificate as it is: based on an online self-assessment, no on-site audit, confirmed every year by a short online re-audit. A plain description holds up better than a vague claim when a customer asks.
06: Zertify
Getting the certificate through Zertify
The self-assessment has 38 yes/no questions. 14 of them are must-meet questions and all must be answered yes. Of the other 24, at least 16 need a yes. The must-meet questions cover the core of the assessment, not every requirement of the standard.
The certificate is issued by Zertify under licence from SICE, and SICE reviews every assessment before issue. It arrives within 4 hours after you pass and pay. The price is CHF 749 (€749) in the first year, then CHF 499 (€499) per year including the yearly online re-audit. The certificate is valid for 3 years. The subscription renews automatically and you can cancel it at any time in your customer account, effective at the end of the current year. You do not need an account to buy.
07: FAQ
Questions about ISO 37001 benefits
Companies whose customers ask about bribery: suppliers to the public sector, exporters, construction and engineering firms, healthcare and medtech, commodity traders and logistics providers. Suppliers to groups with a code of conduct also benefit, because the certificate answers the recurring questionnaire.
No certificate gives you a guarantee. It shows that the company had a risk assessment, a policy, controls and a reporting channel in place. That is the kind of evidence that counts when you have to explain what precautions you took.
Yes. Every certificate has a number and a QR code that open a public verification page. A purchasing department or auditor can check it in a few seconds without contacting you.
The self-assessment has 38 yes/no questions, so you see quickly where you stand. If you answer no to a must-meet question, it points to a gap you would want to close anyway, for example a missing policy or no reporting channel.
It is valid for 3 years and confirmed every year by a short online re-audit that is part of the yearly fee. If you cancel the subscription, the certificate ends with the year you have paid for.
